Yellow Bird Size:3 gal size 3-4 year old 42" - 48"tallDeveloped by the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in Brooklyn, New York, this yellow flowering deciduous magnolia is one of the best. 'Yellow Bird is a cross between M. acuminata var. subcordata and M. x brooklynensis Evamaria and flowers nicely for 2 to 3 weeks as the leaves emerge in the spring. Excellent color consistency and precocious flowering are some of the qualities. The tree grow fairly fast, and will become 20 ft tall in time. Hardy to zone 4.

The plant is vigorous and grows 6-8 ft

but will fill in in spring about the time the flowers unfold

The plant blooms heavily in late March or early April

so unless you live in a mild coastal area you will need a greenhouse to grow this one

It will  grow to the height staked and as wide as 10 ft

Each plant will be 2 ft x 2 ft in time
