Sold Oscar (1914) £95 Mohair brownOscar is an aged 1914 bear. He has a poor ish covering of mohair, long arms and paws and shaped ankles with no claws on his paws or pads. Smaller bears tended to have no stitching. Both paws and pads have very old replaced leather over cotton He is stuffed with wood wool. Provenance: at some stage of this bear's life he became the property of an American girl called Dorcas Aunger who entered him into a doll contest in 1944 run by the Department of Playground and Recreation City of Los Angeles where she won first place (see photo's)
